What is clear to everyone, starting with the investigators, is that this is a terrible family massacre, after days of abuse and torture of the victims. The father of the family, Giovanni Barreca, is under investigation for the triple murder. With him also his 17-year-old daughter, the only survivor, and a couple from Palermo, Sabrina Fina and Massimo Carandente, accused of complicity in the massacre. The investigating judge validated the arrest of the two men in prison, specifying that “they have demonstrated particular criminal obstinacy and are included in a larger “religious” group”, motivating his decision by the “risk of repetition of the crime”, their “evil nature” and risk of escape. According to information published in recent days, the 17-year-old young woman confessed to having participated in the triple murder and for this reason she is under investigation, although her position is still being examined by investigators. The massacre took place with the murder of the two brothers, Kevin and Emanuel, aged 15 and 5, and their mother Antonella Salamone, whose body was then burned and buried in a nearby plot of land. The survivor's story
It was Barreca's 17-year-old daughter who told investigators what happened at that time. Trying to reconstruct the delirium and the horror, explaining his role, not hiding the fear of ending up like his mother and his brothers. “My mother was tortured in turn by Sabrina and Massimo,” explaining how a high-heat hairdryer, hot fireplace tongs and a frying pan were used to beat her, “my father watched, Kevin and I were We stood and exchanged glances, understanding that this was not normal.” And he adds: “I told Kevin I wanted to leave the house. My mother told me to call the police, but I didn't I didn't do it for fear of being tortured. While they were torturing her, they told her that she was a demon. This event happened a few days ago. My mother died on February 9. Sabrina and Massimo told me she had a heart attack while lying on the kitchen floor.”
Then he reconstructs how his mother's body was buried outside the house: “They wanted to cremate her, they put her on wooden planks and took her to the part above my house, a hilly terrain, and they buried her there. near a farm. They dug the hole with a pickaxe and shovel that my father owned. He and Kevin dug the hole, and they still put it in the hole. Then they covered everything and burned everything, including my mother.” But the horror is not over and he describes the torture inflicted on his brothers that he witnessed. “Manuel's torture was intended to releasing demons.
