Estonian tightrope walker Jaan Roose accomplished another feat by walking on a slackline stretched across the Bosphorus in Istanbul, a 1,074-metre walk that took him from Asia to Europe.
Jaan Roose said the sound of horns and sirens on the bridge below him was a distraction during the 47-minute crossing at 165 metres (540 feet) above sea level.
“It's always harder to walk the slackline in an urban environment than in a natural environment,” Roose explained, saying he tried to look straight ahead and focus on his steps.
In July, the tightrope walker had tried to cross the Strait of Messina but the record had disappeared a few metres from the finish line.
