At the Democratic convention in Chicago, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz officially accepted the nomination for vice president of the United States, alongside Kamala Harris. Enthusiastic, Walz shared a message full of determination and passion with the audience, presenting himself not only as a politician, but also as a teacher and a coach. “Coach Walz,” read the placards held by the delegates, while the candidate stressed the importance of teamwork: “We have the winning team, we have to play 76 days and we will achieve the goal,” he declared confidently, earning applause from the audience. Oprah Winfrey's Endorsement

The evening was enriched by the surprise presence of the very famous television host Oprah Winfrey, who decided to speak for the first time at a political convention, despite being registered as an independent. With a major speech, Winfrey harshly attacked Republicans, accusing them of wanting to sow fear and division in the country. “They want us to believe that books are dangerous and assault rifles are safe,” he said, urging independents and undecideds to support the candidacy of Harris and Walz. “When we are together, it is impossible to conquer each other,” he concluded to a standing ovation.

From Bill Clinton to Nancy Pelosi

At the convention, other figures such as Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi expressed their support for the candidacies of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Clinton warned Democrats not to let their guard down, stressing the need for an inclusive approach and praising the work done by Joe Biden. Pelosi described the Biden administration as “one of the most successful in recent history.” The new faces of the party, such as Pete Buttigieg and Josh Shapiro, harshly attacked Republicans, reiterating that the central theme of the campaign will be the defense of freedom.
