the cultural movement that contests the depopulation of southern Italy. The testimonies

Not everyone leaves their hometown or their hometown for good. There are those who come back and many of them do. And not only do they come back, but they change their way of living in their place of origin and start a business: the “La Tornanza” project is born, the cultural movement that wants to revive Italian villages. La Tornanza is a book, a podcast, a festival but also a hub and an academy: the project of Antonio Prota and Flavio Albano that challenges the depopulation of southern Italy by focusing on origin, travel and innovation.

A movement of rebirth of territories that starts from the connection between those who, after having traveled, decide to return to their country of origin and to highlight their knowledge, and those who have stayed; between the hairpin bend and the rest. At the center of these two poles, travel, as a trigger for change, and innovation, as a tool at the service of human capital and the territory.

The Tornanza: The Book

It all starts with a book: “La Tornanza – returns and transplants oriented towards the future” – the essay by Antonio Prota and Flavio R. Albano (Laterza edizioni), two experts in tourism and territorial and digital marketing – which is in reality the manifesto itself of the movement. It is here in fact that all the founding concepts of the project are found which are then put into practice: the importance of returning after the trip and choosing to resettle in the country of origin, bringing a new context to it. , a transformation that allows you to engage with the knowledge of the rest to actively participate in the development of the territory. A growth made up of concrete actions, aimed at creating a new economy and a new society in territories that are always and increasingly abandoned. Like the FAME (Food, Art, Move, Energy) project, a cultural movement that initiates a virtuous circle in which communities work together for the growth of their territories through a common vision and a synergy that unites agriculture, tourism, crafts and commerce. or the theory of grafting, which places villages at the center of the socio-territorial debate, understood as a path to social and cultural reconstruction.

La Tornanza: The Podcast

The story of the return of the speaker's voice becomes the basis of the traveling video podcast, a series of narrations to tell the stories of those who have decided to return home. From Puglia to Basilicata, from Campania to Calabria and beyond: once a week, a hairpin bend tells his story, where he left from and therefore where, after a long journey, he decided to return, but also the reason for this choice and the project he is trying to advance in his native land, thanks to the experience acquired during his absence.

La Tornanza: the festivals

But not only podcasts. Precisely in the name of collaboration and sharing, Tornanza is also a series of live events, the Tornanza festivals, to look each other in the eye and tell each other their experiences, but above all their ideas, so that they can be inspired. The first one took place on June 28th, in Padula, in Campania, and soon there will be others, some in collaboration with the University. On September 17th and 18th in Potenza, then on September 20th in Matera and on October 1st in Bari.

The Tornanza: the poles

Innovating to build startups, welcoming twisters and dialogue between twisters and others: this is what hubs are all about, the places where we work and start creating the concrete foundations of an idea. The goal is to build hubs in different territories and the coordinates are already ready for the first one: it will open in September in La Certosa di Padula in Campania and in Gravina in Puglia.

La Tornanza: The Academy

A true expression of the founding concepts of Tornanza (origin, journey and innovation), the academy is the space dedicated to the training of Tornanza and those who wish to become one.
