UlisseFest 2024: 4 days in Ancona by Lonely Planet

Four days of meetings to reflect on our impact on the world and explore its infinite souls through authors' stories, music and dance. Ancona prepares to welcome from July 4 to 7 the seventh edition of UlyssesFestthe travel festival organized by the publishing house EDT, sole partner of Planet alone in Italy, which has been publishing the famous guides for more than 30 years.

The event, which is now in its seventh edition, asserts itself as a meeting place for travelers, bloggers, photographers, authors, journalists and artists, open to discussion, exchanges and dialogue between cultures. From morning to evening, the squares, museums and historic buildings of the Marche capital will be the scene of meetings, readings, shows, films, concerts and DJ sets in the presence of Italian and international guests.

The theme chosen for the 2024 edition will be Explore the unknownwith the aim of investigating this action that we all perform more or less consciously: in daily life, making new and different choices, or while traveling, visiting new lands, experiencing new routes and facing new new scenarios.

Among the new features of UlisseFest2024, the introduction of the new edition with two glimpses. The first with Alessandro D'Avenia which will take place on Friday May 31st at 9 p.m. at Theater of the Muses. The writer, teacher and screenwriter will reflect on the figure of the Homeric hero and on the capacity of myth to positively influence our lives. A subject dear to him and already studied in Wait, sweetheart. The Odyssey and the art of being mortalwhere he retraces the twenty-four songs of the poem in a sort of art of living, creating a parallel between the epic journey of Ulysses and the existential path of each of us.

Tuesday follow-up July 2ndit will be the turn of Peppe Servillo who will bring the show on stage A fortune teller told me at the Auditorium of Taupe Vanvitelliana: a tribute to Tiziano Terzani, twenty years after his death, and a journey to discover the world through his omnipresent gaze.

Musical evenings at the new Arena sul Mare

The evenings of UlisseFest will be enlivened by various lively concerts in the new Arena on the sea, at the Old Port. Designed as a real open-air theater, it will host the concert of Vasco Brondi who will inaugurate the event on 4th Julywith songs from his latest work A sign of lifea personal manifesto of humanity and empathy between contaminations and distorted sounds.

The next evening, it will be the turn of Great Taranta eveningthe music of Salento which, from a local dimension, has acquired a global resonance and, subsequently, the public will be invited to take a fun and nostalgic journey with the DJ sets Fever in the 90s, dancing to the notes of the best music from the 90s and beyond. SATURDAY July 6 finally, the Arena sul Mare will welcome the singer-songwriter Malika Ayanewhich will be followed by a DJ set by Skin, the historic voice of Skunk Anansie.

A program rich in authors and meetings

In addition to music, the program will also be rich in meetings, readings and shows. With Vincenzo Schettinithe famous teacher physics and content creator known for his informative videos posted on social media, the July 6 At the Teatro delle Muse we will talk about how travel is a matter of physics and that the meeting points between the laws that govern the world and our passion for discovering the planet are countless. Sunday July 7at the Mole Auditorium, Federico Rampini will tell the deep soul of the United States, its adopted land and its deep knowledge of the contradictions and the multifaceted identity of a country which escapes stereotypes and simplifications.
