Tunisia, three Italian Cesvi humanitarian workers arrested: “Alleged irregularities in bank withdrawals”

Three Italian aid workers from the humanitarian organization Cesvi have been arrested in Tunisia, along with another staff member, as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities linked to some money withdrawals from a local bank. La Farnesina communicated this, specifying that the three Italians are involved in certain projects in Libya, a country in which the banking system maintains a series of limitations and for this reason, those who work there often go to Tunisia when they have need to withdraw money. The arrest took place a few days ago and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the embassy in Tunis, guaranteed assistance to humanitarians from the start, also remaining in contact with Cesvi. The NGO itself, founded in Bergamo in 1985 with the mission of promoting human rights and sustainable development, provides all the necessary information to the investigating authorities to enable a rapid resolution of the case, leading to the release of those involved.
