The first night with family and a short vacation for Mura, fresh from the Global Solo Challenge

The sailor from Cagliari Andrea Mura comes straight back from the Global Solo Challenge: he returned on Sunday March 17 to A Coruña, in Galicia (Spain), from where he set sail on November 18, last among the participants in the non-stop event and without assistance. regatta, with the aim of bypassing the three big leaders: Good Hope, Leewin and Horn. Among the few to complete the tour, he finished third.

He was the first Sardinian to defy – in a solo regatta – the so-called “Southern” currents, between the roaring 40s and the howling 50s, the strong winds encountered on the 50th parallel. He is also the fifth Italian in history.

He spent 120 days sailing aboard his Vento di Sardegna, an Open 50, which suffered considerable damage due to the unfavorable weather conditions encountered, particularly off the coast of Buenos Aires.
