Paris Olympics, Italian team's masterpiece in Madison: gold for Consonni and Guazzini

The Italians orchestrated by Marco Villa won gold in track cycling, the women's Madison at the Paris Olympics: Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini beat everyone. The duo slowly managed to overtake their rivals. 15 teams compete in Madison, which must complete 120 laps (30 km). Every 10 laps there is a sprint, which awards these scores: 5 to the first, 3 to the second, 2 to the third and 1 to the fourth. In the last sprint, double points are awarded. If a team wins a lap, it scores 20 points. This is the 11th gold medal for the Italian delegation. The silver medal was won by Great Britain, the bronze by the Netherlands.
