And it is its owner, Barack Obama, who shouted it from the stage of the Democratic convention in Chicago: “Yes, she can.” The crowd goes wild. And from the audience, a chorus rises up repeating the emblematic words: “Yes, she can, yes, she can, yes, she can.” The former president of the United States, accompanied by his partner Michelle Obama, pushes Harris forward with a speech focused on hope. And he does not hold back in his attacks on the Republican candidate Donald Trump: “All he does is complain about his problems, invent crazy conspiracy theories and obsess over the size of the crowds.”

When the public, hearing the name Trump, responds with “boo”, the former president reiterates: “Don't boo, vote! We don't need four more years of chaos, we've seen this movie before and know that the sequel is usually worse. We are ready for President Harris.” The former presidential couple, who managed to access the White House also thanks to a campaign focused on the concept of hope – hope – is enthusiastically welcomed by her hometown of Chicago. The crowd also lights up when Michelle Obama speaks: “Something magical is happening, not only in this stadium, but outside of here. Hope is coming back,” he says, calling Harris “my daughter.” And he concludes: “She is one of the most qualified and experienced people who have ever run for president and she is the one with the most dignity.” And Michelle did not hold back the attacks on the tycoon. “Who is going to tell him that the job he is looking for could be one of those ‘black jobs’?”, recalling the racist remarks of the former president. And regarding his insinuations that Kamala Harris and other Democrats “are not real Americans,” including her husband, he clarified: “No one has a monopoly on what it means to be an American, no one. These are days of great success for the campaign, considering not only the smooth running of the event (with more than 20 million viewers tuning in on the first day) but also the nearly half-billion dollars raised since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race for the White House.
