General Claudio Graziano, president of Fincantieri, was found dead today, Monday June 17. Born in Turin in 1953, Graziano had recently lost his wife Marisa Lanucara, who died in April 2023, and at the time – he wrote The paper – the suicide hypothesis appears the most likely. At the head of Fincantieri since 2022, Graziano was also chief of staff of the armed forces from 2015 to 2018. After this experience, and until 2022, he headed the military committee of the European Union. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was “shocked” by the death of the general: “He leaves us with an honest servant of the State, who throughout his life honored the Nation, the Armed Forces and the Institutions with dedication, competence and professionalism. I would like to express, on my own behalf and that of the entire Government, my condolences and my closeness to his family and loved ones.
“The death of General Graziano leaves me speechless,” the condolences of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, “he was a friend and an extraordinary officer who brought honor to Italy also in his European functions. May a prayer accompany him on his journey to join his wife.” Upon hearing the news, the Fincantieri stock reacted negatively, falling below 5 euros with a drop of 3 percent. The vice-president of the Chamber Giorgio Mulè, deputy of Forza Italia, was also dismayed and shocked: “I had the honor of appreciating his extraordinary abilities in the military and management field” in the numerous positions held, writes Mulè, “I remember above all the man, the affable and ironic person, the trait of elegance and respect which distinguished him General Graziano trained and shaped a generation of soldiers: they call them “General Graziano's boys” and they represent. his best legacy in terms of ability and love for their country.
