Virology

Burioni was his virology professor during the 2011-2012 academic year: “I took the classes and he was so magnetic and passionate that I decided to do my thesis with him. He accepted me as a doctoral student and I chose his laboratory for a year of work on which to base my thesis. It was a difficult, but beautiful year. And when the big graduation day arrived, the professor grilled me with a thousand questions. He wanted me to demonstrate the quality of the work I did and that I deserve my vote. This prepared me for all the discussions that followed.” But he did not pass the test: “It is an examination method that I discovered throughout my studies, widespread both in Italy than abroad. This serves to “overlook” a little, to prevent students who take the exam from trying it. I admit: I was among them. The first time, I went I tried a bit randomly and Professor Burioni failed me. It was a pre-test of basic questions and I got some of them wrong that I needed to know…”.

I am studying

For me, it is a model to follow.” Finally, a comment on the latest controversies: “I do not know the precise case because it was another course in another faculty and I recognize that it is not It's not always entirely the students' fault, but when I look back and think of the teachers who I thought were tough, I understand that they were tough because their discipline required preparation. In San Raffaele , I discovered a reality in which I had to study and work. If I didn't study, I didn't succeed. Just like in life.”
