Thirty years without an immortal idol in the hearts of many fans, not just those of the Roma Giallorossi who have always been proud to celebrate a captain who became a legend. Agostino Di Bartolomei, three decades after his death, remains the symbol of a romantic football made of heart, determination and lungs, an example of how a silent leader, both shy and courageous, can make the difference and leave a mark as deep as a furrow in the history of a club.
On May 30, 1994, tragic news shook the world of sport. Italian football legend Agostino Di Bartolomei committed suicide by shooting himself. Exactly thirty years later, the Giallorossi club, all Giallorossi supporters and all football fans remember the Roma flag with which he also played in a European Cup final.
A shy and reserved person. Yet he was a true leader. Di Ba, or Ago to Giallorossi supporters, was born in the capital in 1955 and linked the most brilliant period of his professional career to AS Roma. He has made more than 300 appearances, including almost 150 with the captain's armband: a scudetto in 1982/83, three Italian Cups and a European Cup which he narrowly missed with the Giallorossi.
