Joe Biden met the widow and daughter of Alexeï Navalny in San Francisco. This was reported in a White House memo. The US president met with Yulia and Dasha Navalnaya “to express his deepest condolences for their terrible loss.” Biden “expressed admiration for Navalny’s extraordinary courage in the fight against corruption and for a free and democratic Russia.” The US president stressed that the dissident's legacy would live on “through the people of Russia and around the world who mourn his loss and fight for freedom, democracy and human rights.” At the end of the meeting, new heavy sanctions against Moscow were announced for tomorrow.
