“Disgusting”, but also “huge bullshit”. This is how Roger Waters defined Bono's recent comments of support for Israel. The former Pink Floyd musician harshly attacks the U2 frontman, saying in an interview with Al Jazeera: “My mother told me that when faced with difficult problems, the first thing to do was to read. Read, read, read. So the next part is simple: do the right thing. Everyone who knows Bono should go grab him by the ankles and shake him… until he stops being a huge asshole.” What triggered Waters' anger, in particular, was the U2's recent performance at the Sphere in Las Vegas, during which Bono paid tribute to the victims of the Hamas attack on October 7. “In light of what happened in Israel and Gaza, a song about non-violence seems somewhat ridiculous, even ridiculous, but our prayers have always been for peace and for non-violence… But our hearts and our anger, you know where it goes. So sing with us …and with these beautiful children at this music festival.” So, he intoned, changing the verses of the song Pride (in the name of love): “Early in the morning, on October 7, the sun rises in the desert sky… Stars of David, they took your life but they could not take your pride.” “One of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in my life,” Waters commented laconically. Who has always been critical of the Israeli government: observations he recalled last month The independent, cost him the break with the music rights company BMG. Waters, for his part, has always rejected accusations of anti-Semitism.
