“We will investigate the allegations, help desperate civilians”

The list of countries that have suspended support for UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, is growing following the scandal involving 12 operators accused of supporting Hamas during the October 7 raid. UN Secretary Guterres summons UNRWA donor countries: a key plank for humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees, after the same agency signaled it no longer had the strength to provide aid to civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

UNRWA's director of external relations, Tamara Alrifai, explains to Rainews24 how the agency is handling the accusations and why it is necessary not to cut international funds so as not to interrupt aid to the civilian population of besieged Gaza and for the most part neither at home.
