He was working for the agricultural company Il Sole, in via Torquato Tasso, in Vimercate, when a bale of hay weighing 800 kilos fell on him. There was nothing to be done for the 67-year-old man from Brianza: when the rescuers from Areu – the regional emergency company of Lombardy – arrived on the scene, they could not help but confirm his death. The police and firefighters also arrived at the farm to try to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday 27 August. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 6 fatal accidents at work in the province of Monza and Brianza. The most recent one happened just a week ago, when a 22-year-old Egyptian was crushed by a waste compacting conveyor belt.
