Vienna, two suspected jihadists arrested: they wanted to attack the Taylor Swift concert

Austrian police have arrested two people accused of planning a jihadist terrorist attack at American pop star Taylor Swift's concerts scheduled for tomorrow and Friday in Vienna. The local police announced this, prompting organizers to cancel the three dates scheduled for the Austrian capital. The first arrest was made in the morning. Director General of Public Security Franz Ruf explained at a press conference about the first young man arrested: “An Austrian citizen who had 'sworn allegiance' to the jihadist group Islamic State (ISIS) has been arrested.” Specifically, “preparatory acts focused on Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna” were cited. According to the authorities, one of the suspected terrorists arrested is 19 years old and was arrested in the city of Ternitz. He is said to have “sworn allegiance to ISIS a few weeks ago and was radicalized online.” During the security forces' blitz, several neighboring houses were evacuated and nearby roads were closed. “Chemical substances were seized” at his home. The second suspect was arrested in the afternoon in Vienna and, according to local media, is 17 years old, although the authorities have not provided any further information. Nor have they confirmed rumors that three other people still wanted were involved in planning the attack.
