three world records arrive

The only good news from the Italian Paralympic Finswimming Championships: three world records from Cmas (World Confederation of Underwater Activities) and several Italian records during the event organized by Fipsas (Italian Sport Fishing Federation, underwater and fin swimming activities), in collaboration with Asd Finswimming Sub San Vito, in the 25-meter pool of the municipal swimming pool of San Vito al Tagliamento (Pn). The first big mark went to the Friulian Katia Aere, representative of Pinna Sub San Vito, who, with a time of 14'' and 20, set the new world record in the 25m fin specialty. “An immense emotion – he said – because certain results are anything but certain. Setting a world record in “my” swimming pool is a great satisfaction for me.”

She was followed by Eleonora Guasconi, a Tuscan athlete, who managed to set the new Cmas world record in the 50 meter fins with a time of 27'' and 13''. “Every time – explained ASD athlete Gao Brinella – it’s a unique and wonderful feeling. Swimming with fins gives me incredible joy. I will do my best to improve further.”

The third world record came from Mirko Luppi, from Emilia, who swam the 50m singlefin in 25'' and 45.”VSI was looking for confirmations – said Bruno Loschi, representative of ASD Nuoto Sub Modena – and today I found them. I managed to prove to myself once again that the limits are only mental and that in the water there is no goal that cannot be achieved.”

However, the San Vito al Tagliamento swimming pool was the scene of other exciting performances, performed by athletes from all over Italy, demonstrating that the Italian Paralympic fin swimming movement is going through a period of great vitality. The meeting is now the second edition of the World Paralympic Finswimming and Freediving Championships, in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Ud), from November 14 to 18.
