Simona Autieri and Davide Carrera in the depths of Lake Garda: it's a world record

Great apnea figures, in Riva del Garda on the occasion of the Open Outdoor Championships organized by Fipsas. Four world records, including two for disabled people.

In the stretch of water in front of the port of San Nicolò in Riva del Garda, Simona Auteri, Ilenia Colanero, Davide Carrera and Fabrizio Pagani have achieved extraordinary performances in the world championship. The first, from Genoa, in constant weight with fins, managed to reach an altitude of -76 metres while Davide Carrera, from Turin, obtained a score of -92. With the collaboration of the Asd Gruppo Sommozzatori Riva del Garda, the Cmas (World Underwater Confederation) has approved or achieved records. “Incredible – say the two new champions in unison – because the element “fresh water” is very different from sea water. We have reached significant depths, culminating in months of intense training. We will not stop there.”

Together with them, Ilenia Colanero, an athlete from Lanciano, and Fabrizio Pagani from Terni set a new record, this time in fresh water.

Riva del Garda was the scene of other exciting performances among the “able-bodied” such as those of the freediver Pietro Antolini from Verona and the freediver Giacomo Sergi from Trapani, both authors of -77.00 m and a well-deserved silver medal ex aequo in constant buoyancy with fins.
