Roberto Vannacci indicted for inciting racial hatred: his book “The World Upside Down” is in the sights of prosecutors

Roberto Vannacci is under investigation by the Rome prosecutor's office for inciting racial hatred based on certain sentences in his book The world upside down. In recent weeks, numerous complaints have been filed by various associations. After the publication of the text, Vannacci found himself at the center of criticism for the content of this book, which nevertheless gained him great popularity. The general, who is reportedly about to run with the League in the next European elections in June, is also at the center of three other investigations whose outlines are only emerging in recent days. The ordinary prosecutor's office, the military prosecutor's office and the accounting prosecutor's office are investigating three separate cases for fraud, embezzlement and fraud, and damage to treasury. A Defense Ministry inspection over the period he served as military attaché in Moscow – from February 7, 2021 to May 18, 2022 – found “critical problems, anomalies and damage to the treasury” in reimbursement requests made with self-certification, regarding the use of an official car, reimbursement of expenses of his wife and daughter, as well as certain events in various restaurants in the Russian capital. The investigations call on a super witness, Colonel Vittorio Parrella, who succeeded Vannacci in 2023 and reported some critical anomalies and problems in the administrative management of his predecessor.

We hope, based on personal data, to resolve this issue sooner. » Regarding registration in the general register of suspects, lawyer Carta said: “The only encouragement given is to think and read. No incitement to hatred.”
