Paola Egonu's fresco damaged, vandals against anti-racist tribute in Rome

Entitled “Italianità”, the installation was created not only to celebrate the Olympic triumph of the women's national volleyball team, but also to promote the fight against hatred and racism. But it has visibly annoyed someone, the work, created by the artist Laika, has been degraded with the pink color applied to the skin of the Italian champion.

The vandals erased the player's face and replaced the black, the skin colour of the volleyball player, who is the daughter of Nigerian parents, with pink. The street artist commented in an Instagram story: “Racism is a nasty cancer that Italy must cure.”
