Two young girls were arrested yesterday March 8 in Tehran after posting a video on social media in which they danced in the street to celebrate International Women's Day and the Iranian New Year which will begin on March 20 in Tajrish Square from the Iranian capital. . The two young women, who had dressed as Haji Firuz – a fictional character from Iranian folklore who appears on Iranian streets a few days before the New Year – were accused of “behavior contrary to social norms” and then arrested.
