Goodbye Mr. Eriksson. Journey to the place where the tale of “Svennis” began

Born in Sunnne 76 years ago, 400 km north of Gothenburg, Sven Goran Eriksson's footballing adventure began in Torsby, a small village of 4,000 souls on the northern shore of Lake Fryken. Here, on the pitch of Torsby IF, Eriksson took his first steps as a footballer. An unmemorable defender, he soon ended his life on the pitch, thanks to an injury, to become a coach. And the bench of this small club was his first as a coach.

After Torsby, it was Gothenburg's turn, with whom he achieved his first national and international successes, before beginning his journey in European football, passing through Portugal, Italy and England, where he was the first foreign coach on the bench of the 3 lions.

In the church of Fryksande, the book of condolences signed by dozens of friends and simple admirers is open. And still here, at the lake Fryken that connects Sunne and Torsby, where Eriksson had decided to continue and live when he was not traveling around the world, he had expressed the wish that his ashes be scattered.
