The winner of the first time trial at the finish commented: “This is the best way to start this Giro, which I came to with a lot of ambition and with a very strong team to support me. Last year the Corsa Rosa didn't go as I wanted, due to a crash, and so I wanted to show that I was doing well right away. The Maglia Rosa is a dream before being a goal and to start like this is truly wonderful.”
