On the occasion of Milan Design Week the meetings and meetings on the major themes of global creativity organized by Corriere della Sera in collaboration with the specialized journals of the RCS are back. This year he returns Solferino 28 Design, an event organized by Corriere della Sera, Living and Abitare which, for the second year in a row, will open the doors of the Milanese newspaper to the Design Week public.

The mining town
The protagonist of the initiative will be the immersive installation “Mining town. Design, Dismantle, Disseminate », a project organized by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architectes, on the theme of sustainability in the urban context, and that it will bring at the center of the reflection is the idea of “design for disassembly”.
“Città Miniera speaks of the city as a possible reserve for the future,” he explains. Mario Cucinella, founder and design director of Mario Cucinella Architects. “According to this idea, we can imagine urban space as an ecosystem which, once deconstructed, is transformed from its own material, as happens in nature. An idea of circularity applied to architecture in which the creative process becomes central.”
The society of the future
Circularity and sustainability are the key words of the installation that comes to life in the historic headquarters of Corriere della Sera, “Solferino 28”. The Corrière courtyard has been redesigned using elements designed to dismember and self-regenerate according to the cyclical nature of nature. A “new city”, designed and built with wooden agricultural crates which after giving life to this new urban space will regain their original function.
The themes of the society of the future will be told by a skyline of light towers representing the Mining City. Scattered in the forest of light towers of “Mining town”, the themes of the society of the future: from the material and immaterial city to shared and intelligent micro-mobility, from urban wood to lightweight construction through “urban vegetation”.

A meeting in the Buzzati room on Saturday April 20
On Saturday April 20 at 6 p.m. Corriere della Sera, Living and Abitare will meet at Sala Buzzati, via Balzan 3, in Milan, for a reflection on the theme: Waste and urban regeneration. Guided tours of the Corriere della Sera headquarters
During the week of “Solferino 28” it will also be possible to participate in a series of guided tours in the Art Nouveau building of Corriere della Sera. and discover the heart of the newspaper: Albertini Room to the editorial offices, from the grand staircase to the old typographic machines.
