An elderly woman and her caregiver aged 91 and 64 died in a fire in Vicopisano, Pisa province. The fire was probably started by an electric heater circuit. The flames started from the bedroom where the elderly woman was sleeping. The second victim was a Ukrainian national who tried to save the 91-year-old but was overcome by smoke. Police are investigating the incident. The alarm went off at 4:40 a.m. in the hamlet of San Giovanni alla Vena. But when the firefighters arrived, the smoke had completely invaded the apartment. The police and firefighters also responded to the scene.
