Farewell to Eric Carmen, the voice of “All By Myself” (who also made us dance with “Dirty Dancing”)

Mourning in the world of music. American singer and musician Eric Carmen, interpreter of All alone (brought to success by Céline Dion) and the hit Hungry eyespart of the film's soundtrack Dirty dance (1987), died at the age of 74. This was announced by his wife, who did not disclose further information about the location and cause of death. “Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep this weekend. He was very happy to know that for decades, his music has touched so many people and that they will always remember him,” we can read on the singer’s website. Amy Carmen, that’s his wife’s name , also asked fans to “respect the family's privacy as we mourn our terrible loss.”

Born in 1949 in Ohio, Eric Carmen began his musical career by co-founding the rock group The Raspberries in the 1970s. After breaking up, the group reunited in 2004. A concert from this tour is later became a 2017 album titled Raspberries Pop Art Live. Eric Carmen is best known for All alone And Hungry eyesbut his successes also include Almost paradisewhich he co-wrote for the film Free from all ties and which earned him a Grammy nomination. His hits have been covered by artists as diverse as Céline Dion, Shaun Cassidy (It's rock and roll) and John Travolta (I will never fall in love again).
