Ambulance hit during rescue, 6 operators injured. Zaia: “Very serious situation”

The health workers hit by a car during a long rescue in Giaccano, in the province of Rovigo, along the Transpolesana, are hospitalized in serious condition. The crew of a Suem 118 ambulance was rescuing motorists injured in another accident that occurred shortly before.

The accident during the rescue

The collision occurred around 8:30 am, near the Menà di Castagnaro exit, on the road towards Rovigo. According to what we know, at least six people were injured, two of whom were hospitalized in red code at the Borgo Trento hospital and four others in yellow code at another hospital in the province of Rovigo. During the rescue operations, the Menà exit was closed and cars heading south were diverted from the state road 434 via the previous exit.

The President of Veneto, Luca Zaia, expressed his concern about what happened: “I am following with apprehension the evolution of the situation, which seems very serious,” he said, emphasizing his closeness to the health workers concerned. The situation continues to evolve.
