“After the events in Pisa, the children of police officers are victims of harassment at school”

They are sons and daughters of state police officers and since the beginning of the week, they no longer go to class because they have been victims of harassment, both at school and via social networks. The cases, twelve per hour, are emerging from high schools in Pisa, Florence and other cities, according to reports from the police union Coisp, the Coordination for Union Independence of Police Forces. And they appeared after the accusations against the students of Pisa. “Colleagues report to us a dozen cases, either in high schools in Florence, Pisa and other cities, two also in colleges, but we do not exclude other cases, including against the staff of other police forces. The situation is such that most of them do not want to return to class,” declared the general secretary of Coisp, Domenico Pianese. “They are described as “sons of cops” or “sons of truncheons”. , they are accused of being beaters. “Where did you put the baton?”, he is told. The union hopes that “this climate will pass, if it consolidated, it would be a major problem” also because , explains Pianese “the trials take place in the courts, not in the squares and even less against children simply because they are the children of police officers. We hope that this way of doing things will not be consolidated and will only be linked at the present moment.” Coisp denounces the episode of “very politicized” institutes and asks “teachers and directors to intervene, even if we have noted the behavior of certain school directors and professors which leaves us perplexed”.
