The 2024 Paris Olympic Games “should cost” the French state coffers between 3 and 5 billion euros: this is the estimate provided by the president of the Paris Court of Auditors and former European Commissioner for Affairs economic and monetary, Pierre Moscovici, interviewed by France Inter. On the day that INSEE publishes alarming data on French public finances – with a deficit/GDP ratio at 5.5%, well above government forecasts – Moscovici is however keen to emphasize that this will not be the cost of Olympic Games to have “an absolutely massive impact” on debt beyond the Alps.
