Antonio Ricci admitted he never lost hope of being able to bring Fiorello to welcome Striscia la Notizia. “I wouldn't want Fiorello to be present on Striscia for just one episode – says the father of the satirical newspaper – because one hour is not enough for me. We have a pact with him that sooner or later he will have to come and do it.” Ricci spoke at La Sapienza in Rome for a lesson-event dedicated to “Drive in and the history of television”, accompanied by by Enrico Mentana, Barbara Palombelli and Victoria Cabello. Smiling to journalists, Ricci added about the deal with the showman: “I still left him a date which is in 10 years and I told him that we'd pay him to come in diapers, because now we'd be… I don't know if I'll be there.”
In the past, Ricci reveals that he was about to convince Fiorello to host Striscia la Notizia. But each time the opportunity was lost: “There is this promise made and on several occasions we have been close to the management of Fiorello. I would be very happy because he is funny. I always wanted to have fun in my shows and I'm sure that with Fiorello I would have a lot of fun.”
