Tajani meeting in Bucharest to discuss Italians detained in Romania: “Filippo Mosca must be transferred to a safe place”

Among the topics discussed by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during his meeting in Bucharest with Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu, there is also the case of some Italian citizens detained in Romania. During the bilateral meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the EPP congress in the Romanian capital, Tajani addressed in particular the case of Filippo Mosca, 29, from Nisse, detained in a prison near Costanza, in conditions that his family and lawyers denounced as “inhumane”. “We hope that he will be transferred to a safe and protected place,” Tajani reportedly said during the meeting, according to what emerges from Farnesina. Concerning Francesco Flauto, finally convicted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that “he has asked to serve his sentence in Italy”.

Antonio Tajani himself confirms that he spoke about the conditions of the two Italian prisoners in Romania, writing on X: “Meeting in Bucharest with the Romanian Minister of Justice, Alina Gorghiu. I asked for your cooperation so that the protection of Italian prisoners in Romania is guaranteed. We continue to follow their case like that of all Italians detained abroad. » Among other topics discussed during the bilateral meeting, there is the improvement of judicial cooperation between the two countries, considered crucial by Farnesina to encourage the presence of Italian companies in Romania. Tajani, who is also responsible for foreign trade, stressed that “by benefiting from a more secure legal context, Italian companies will certainly be encouraged to increase their investments.”
