“It is very serious and unacceptable – declare Noemi Di Segni, president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, Victor Fadlun, president of the Jewish Community of Rome, and Walker Meghnagi, president of the Jewish Community of Milan – that Massimo Ceccherini, Oscar nominee for “Io Capitano” screenplay, revived one of the saddest and most abused anti-Semitic stereotypes on Rai1's “Ruota Libera,” arguing that his film deserves to win but won't win because “Jews will win, because they always win.” The usual allusion to Jewish lobbies, conceptually similar to the propaganda which, in any historical period and at any latitude, preceded persecution and violence against our communities.
