Paris 2024 stars at the inauguration of the school year

For ''Everyone at school', the annual inauguration ceremony of the school year, in the presence of President Mattarella Yes, the world of sport also met. Italian volleyball team – composed of Anna Danesi, Paola Egonu, Alessia Orro and Myriam Silla and led by the coach Julio Velasco – and the iQFOil (sailing) gold medal Marta Maggetti. Then the protagonists of the Paralympic Games Alberto Amodeo (I swim), Monica Boggioni (I swim), Martina Caironi (athletics) e Matteo Parenzan (table tennis).

President Malagò, ideally tracing the triumphs of the movement during the magical Parisian summer, indicated the winning interpretation: “These have been three exceptional years. After Tokyo, in Paris, we confirmed exciting results. These girls are a role model for children, they are modern heroes. Sport is increasingly entering the life of our country as a culture and in a multidisciplinary way.

Volleyball champions are enthusiastic: “The gold medal has always been our dream. We trained for it and in Paris we focused match after match until we triumphed. We made history and we are grateful for the opportunity we were given. You don't always win, the important thing is the commitment we make. Every time we fall, we have to get up: we have done it many times.”.

With tears in her eyes, Marta Maggetti, addressing the students, said that “with sailing I had a crush since I started as a child”. Coach Velasco was enlightening: “We coaches are like teachers. Being with young people is an extraordinary privilege. Doing what we love is another privilege. Today there are many positive examples, but I notice that we often tend to judge young people. For work with young people, the first thing to do is to believe in them and try to make them authoritarian and autonomous”.

Closure entrusted to the Head of State.School starts again and with it hopes and emotions – says Mattarella –. The school rhythm marks the family calendar and is very important for the entire national community. Boys and girls grow physically and mentally, they change, enriched by their teachers. Society also advances amidst problems and new challenges. School is a movement, it does not stop, it is a path to walk together, it is a training ground for life. It transmits culture and knowledge in a world that increasingly demands knowledge and preparation; educates, develops a sense of community and helps people live coexistence“.
