Now Sarah Scazzi's mother speaks out: 'Michele Misseri needs to stop clowning around'

There has been no peace for Concetta Serrano since August 26, 2010: that day, her fifteen-year-old daughter Sarah Scazzi disappeared from Avetrana, her hometown in the province of Taranto. Michele Misseri was sentenced to 8 years in prison for this case, for removing a corpse and tampering with evidence. Misseri has now served his sentence and was released from prison three weeks ago. But for Serrano, the conclusion of this story is still far away. In a long interview given to Fourth Degree, broadcast in the episode of Friday March 8, the woman expressed her desire: a final confrontation with Misseri, Sarah's uncle, to know the truth about what really happened to the young woman. Because, explains the woman, “we must put an end to this truth that he does not want to say”.

The comparison

A private dialogue, between the two of them, without investigators or courts. Misseri, Serrano said, “needs to stop acting like a clown and saying all this nonsense. He knows that no one believes him anyway. » Meanwhile, the farmer's daughter and wife remain behind bars: Sabrina Misseri and Cosima Serrano, Sarah's cousin and aunt respectively. They were sentenced to life imprisonment. But according to Michele, “they had nothing to do with the murder.” A version that Serrano does not believe: “I have seen videos that clearly demonstrate his innocence. In one of them, where he is with his niece, he declares: “I covered for Sabrina.” If your daughter had nothing to do with it, why is she talking about it? And further he adds: “We were smart.” In other words, you are talking about several people and not just one. Who are these scoundrels? We could have called for help, why didn't you call them? Did you do everything yourself? ” he asks.

“It’s just bullshit”

During the interview, the woman added: “What Michele says and does hurts me a lot. My daughter received procedural justice, but with her behavior, it's like she received half justice. The justice system doesn't believe him, the people don't believe him, they know he is innocent. So he sets off freewheeling to make his daughters and his wife happy, proclaiming himself guilty. If women disappeared because of him, Michele would tell the truth.” Concetta Serrano believes she can categorically exclude the hypothesis of sexual assault by Michele towards Sarah, as she further explains in the interview: “It's just lies. Valentina (daughter of Michele and Cosima, sister of Sabrina) even declared: “My father is a pedophile, but if he really was, why did he never touch them?”. There, we realizes the lies they tell.”

August 26

That summer evening, 14 years ago, Serrano remembers that, seeing that Sarah had not returned, he was there precisely because of his sister. There she met Sabrina: “She told me: 'No, aunt, Sarah didn't come to our house'. She was about to leave, but I stopped her and said, “Look, tell your mom to let Sarah stay here when she gets here.” “Mom’s not here,” she replied, and then I asked her to tell her father. And she said, “No, Dad, okay, okay…” without finishing the sentence. He didn't tell me that it was there or that it wasn't there. Then listening to their interviews with hindsight, I heard that Cosima was sleeping, that Michele was also sleeping on the deckchair. So there too, they lied to me. But I never imagined that they were responsible for my daughter's death.”
