They return to Milan tire extinguishers, in Italian “tire deflators”. A group of eco-activists with a clear objective: to declare war on SUVs circulating in cities. The collective's mode of action is simple: unscrew the tire cap, insert the intruder (a lens, a seed, a stone). By pressing the valve, the object allows a gentle and silent evacuation of air. The international collective celebrated its second year of existence yesterday with coordinated action in several countries. Among the affected cities there is also Milan, where activists claim to have “neutralized” 60 SUVs in the Città Studi district. This is not the first time that the group tire extinguishers, born in Great Britain but emulated in various European countries, he arrived in the Lombard capital. This already happened a year ago.
Also on this occasion, dozens of SUV owners woke up with their car tires flat. “Be careful, your SUV kills”, is the message that motorists saw delivered under their windshield wipers after last night's action and that of last year. “You will get angry, but don’t take it personally. It's not you, it's your car”, write the authors of the searches. “We did this because driving in urban areas with such an enormous car has equally enormous consequences for others.” And the reason is simple: “SUVs and 4x4s are a disaster for our climate, they are the second cause of the global increase in carbon dioxide emissions over the last decade”.
