Mikea Zaka: who is the Albanian citizen arrested for the Frosinone shooting

His name is Mikea Zaka, a 23-year-old Albanian citizen arrested for the Frosinone shooting. He will face charges of murder and triple attempted murder. The victim's name was Kasem Kasmin. Kasmin enters the Shake bar on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. via Aldo Moro with two friends. According to initial reports, the three want to settle scores over a girl, but Zaka pulls out his gun and starts shooting. “Customers ran into the place while we heard gunshots coming from outside,” said a waitress. Zaka fires six shots: they all hit. One hits Kasem in the throat, who dies. The other takes full advantage of his brother Ervin, now dying. The other two are less serious: one suffered a fractured femur. Zaka then fled with two Italian friends: Giuliano and Elia.

The pistol

He throws the weapon into the Cosa River. He was finally arrested by police on Sunday after surrendering on the advice of his lawyer Marco Maietta. While investigators are convinced that behind the shooting there is not a girl but a war between gangs for control of the drug market. Zaka was never arrested, but he was searched a few months ago: 20,000 euros in cash were found. The messenger instead, he says a girl was behind the shooting. Zaka had established a relationship with her, the other Albanians had already “advised” him to leave her alone. And they had beaten him. Maybe that's why he went around armed. Even though he told investigators that he had snatched the weapon from one of those who wanted to hit him.

Investigation

The weapon ended up in some sort of landfill where it has not yet been recovered. Zaka's statement may have been made to lighten his position. And because he can thus corroborate the thesis of defense against danger and not risk being accused of premeditation. This morning, the Albanian citizen will have to appear before the investigating judge for the guarantee interrogation. “The investigations are not finished but are only the beginning to piece together what is behind this very serious bloody event in which two criminal groups were involved,” said Frosinone prosecutor Antonio Guerrero. Who doesn't seem to believe the story of the challenged girl.
