“Is beating students a failure? Yes, but from their families.” The League's attack on Mattarella – Video

The political clash following police violence against students demonstrating in Pisa last Friday shows no sign of abating. Speaking following the information given to the Chamber by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, the League deputy Edoardo Ziello responded harshly to the position taken by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. “We completely agree with the part where it says batons indicate failure with children,” the Northern League MP said. But certainly not in the sense that the Head of State gives to this term: “It is the academic failure especially of the families of these students who sought conflict with the police forces,” he asserts. Furthermore, “the failure of some teachers who fanned the flames of protest by using these demonstrators as a baton to throw at the police forces”. And it is precisely to the agents that Ziello addresses his “solidarity” because they are “attacked by left-wing social centers”. He then also points the finger at the opposition: “This is a failure on which your narrative rests. Because your story, Mr. President, through you, that of the Democratic Party, of the Left, of the 5 Stars, that of the world turned upside down, is a story that exploits these kids.”
