The second day of competition at the European Athletics Championships in Rome is off to a great start. Francesco Fortunato indeed won the bronze medal in the 20 km: the 29-year-old from Puglia from Fiamme Gialle finished third with a time of 1'19″54, beaten only by the Swede Perseus Karlstrom (gold in 1'19″54 ). “13) and the Spaniard Paul McGrath (silver in 1'19″31). Sixth was Riccardo Orsoni in 1'21″08, retirement of Gianluca Picchiottino. Italy's total thus rises to five medals (2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze).
