Euro 2024, Spain triumphs: 2-1 against England at the end of a super-final

Spain won the 2024 Men's European Football Championship after a thrilling final against England in Berlin. After a hard-fought first half, it was here red to take the lead first, after less than two minutes of play in the second half: a lovely goal from Nico Williams inspired by the other talent, Lamine Yamal. The Red Furies looked to have something extra, but they failed to double their lead, and halfway through the second half – again thanks to a perfect substitution from manager Southgate – England caught up with their opponents again with Cole Palmer's goal. In the 86th minute, however, Spain found new life thanks to another fine team effort finished off by Mikel Oyarzabal. Three minutes later, England's hopes were dashed on the opposition goal line, the ball being headed away by Olmo. There is no more time, the final and the European Championship are here: after 12 years, Spain is again at the top of Europe, for England it is the second bitter defeat in a row after that of Euro 2020 (in 2021) against Italy. But the national team of Sotuhgate leaves the field with its head held high.
