Carlos Sainz to undergo surgery for appendicitis, misses Arabian GP: Ferrari calls up Oliver Bearman as reserve

Carlos Sainz will have to miss the Saudi GP after being diagnosed with appendicitis and will therefore have to undergo surgery. The confirmation comes from Ferrari which announces the replacement by Oliver Bearman. Reserve driver Cavallino will be on track from the third free practice session, therefore from tomorrow March 9 during the scheduling of EL3. “The Ferrari family – writes the Maranello team in a note – wishes Carlos a speedy recovery”.

The Spaniard had already missed last Wednesday's press conference due to an unspecified illness. He then returned to the track for the first two free practice sessions. But his condition was not optimal, also considering the fact that he had a fever. What initially seemed to be a trivial intestinal disorder turned out to be an inflammation of the appendix which required intervention as soon as possible.
