Fear in a Circumvesuviana train which crushed an abandoned refrigerator on the tracks. The accident occurred yesterday evening in the area of the Via Crapolla level crossing in Pompeii. There were no injuries on board, apart from fright. The train suffered minor damage. This is the third case on the same point. Previously a bathtub had been abandoned and before that a swimsuit. “It is not about vandalism or pranks – commented the president of the autonomous body of Volturno, Umberto De Gregorio – but about criminals, saboteurs, terrorists. I hope the police catch them and throw them in jail.”
According to a first reconstruction, the train driver only noticed the presence of the refrigerator on the tracks at the last moment, unable to avoid the impact although he tried to brake. From Gregorio on his social profiles: “After the bathtub and New Jersey, it was now the turn of the refrigerator. Still in the same place, level crossing via Crapolla”. For the moment, the company has decided to place a permanent security guard “and we are installing the cameras positioned on site”.
