A theme, that of “creatures” which links Saint Francis and his “Canticle of the Creatures” to German Benedictine mysticism Hildegard of Bingen, lived between 1098-1179, author of “Book of Creatures” But which also refers to the theologian Raymond of Sabunde, who at the end of the 15th century was concerned with the relationship between man and nature, and others Pope Francis that in the encyclical “Laudato yes” underlines the need to take care of the planet.

From the century-old holm oak forest toAbbey of San Benedetto
The circular route, approximately 7.5 km long, will cross the century-old holm oak forest which surrounds theHermitage of Carceria monumental complex that develops around the cave where Saint Francis retreated to pray. A place strongly imbued with spirituality, in an uncontaminated naturalistic context.
The walk will continue on a 4 km path to theAbbey of San Benedettoanother very suggestive place that dates back to the 10th century, immersed in the woods of the mountain overlooking Assisi.
Here the grand finale will be a general concert inside and outside the walls of the ancient abbey, which can be visited with experts, while the Benedictine nuns of Sant'Anna, who manage the structure, will offer hikers a tasting of their craft beer accompanied by typical products.
