Zelensky's advisor: “Many Italians want to send soldiers to Ukraine”

Ukraine is not losing the war against Russia. And many Italians want to send their soldiers to the battlefield. Oleksiy Danilov, 62, advisor to Ukrainian President Zelensky and head of the Kyiv National Defense Council, speaks in an interview with Corriere della Sera. In which he describes the vote that crowned Vladimir Putin as “false”: “It is easy to win elections in a concentration camp. Let us remember together what happened during the time of Hitler and Mussolini. Europe must now be on guard, particularly with regard to right-wing and left-wing extremists who love the Moscow regime. Putin is really becoming the next Hitler and he can find emulators, you have to understand, in a dictatorship it is easy to manipulate public opinion.”

Putin's agents in Italy

“We should not underestimate the danger: Russian propaganda is working full time with its apparatus and we know that its agents are also very active in Italy,” Danilov adds. Who then responds to the objection about the failure of the vote in Ukraine and the fact that Putin is therefore more democratic than Zelensky: “Yes, this is one of the slogans of the dictatorship. But a democratic country at war cannot hold elections if it expects them to be conducted according to the rules. Every day, our civilians and soldiers die or are injured, even while defending your country. Only a totalitarian state and those who ignore democracy cannot understand the reasons for our postponement of the vote. Russia has not held regular elections for many years. In all cases, the results are totally manipulated by them, including the participation rate. And Putin eliminated competitors like Navalny.”

“He wants to attack NATO”

Zelensky's advisor discusses the tsar's possible plans: “Already in December 2021, Putin made it clear that he wanted to seize not only the whole of Ukraine, but also Moldova and regions of Europe Eastern countries which became members of NATO in 1997, such as the Baltic Republics, etc. I know it's uncomfortable to hear, but Putin intends to attack NATO.” And he recognizes the difficulties on the ground: “The situation at the front is always complicated, whether we attack or defends itself, and it is normal for soldiers to constantly ask for weapons and ammunition. We will resist as best we can, but we undoubtedly need help.” He denies, however, that kyiv is heading for defeat: “Absolutely not. Ukraine will win. Russia does not have the strength to conquer us, it cannot do it. »

Macron and the troops in Ukraine

Danilov then mentions Emmanuel Macron's sentences on the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine: “He refers to individual European armies and I would say that each country has the right to send troops. We hope for your solidarity. However, remember that Russia has been attacking European cyberspaces for many years, you are already at war. I have many friends in Italy who would be happy to send us their soldiers. » Finally: “I don’t understand why we should abandon our land to a bloodthirsty bastard dictator who is attacking us. If we capitulated, if we gave in to a territorial compromise, the principle of the legitimacy of the use of force to modify the borders between States would triumph. It would be very serious for everyone.”
