War in Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán met Trump in Florida: “If he wins, he will not give a cent to kyiv”

“Donald Trump will no longer give a cent to Ukraine” if he is re-elected president of the United States. This is what Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told the press in Budapest, after the meeting between the two “old friends” at Mar-a-Lago. “The war will therefore end, because it is obvious that Ukraine cannot stand on its own two feet,” he said. Ties between Budapest and Moscow are not new: the prime minister repeatedly refused to send weapons to kyiv and maintained relations with Russia and President Putin even after the invasion. During his trip across the ocean, the Fidesz leader met the former tycoon, but not the current president. From what New York Times, it was the Hungarian Prime Minister who would have asked to be invited. “Biden respects the pope, but peace depends on Moscow”

The latter, in an interview on Swiss television, called for peace negotiations in kyiv, declaring that he who raises the white flag is courageous. “Unfortunately, we still see no signs that Russia wants to end this war and that is why we are committed to supporting kyiv in its defense against Russian aggression,” the official stressed. The Pontiff's remarks, subsequently clarified by the Vatican press room, prompted the Ukrainian embassy to the Holy See and President Zelensky himself to intervene on the issue. Russian madness “must lose this war” was the (shared) call invoked by many.
