the story of Adi, a taekwondo athlete who has his eye on the Olympic Games

At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, they will compete for the third time refugee athletes from around the world. Not under the banners of the nations they had to flee, but with the symbol of a heart. The Olympic committees of the countries where they are invited are responsible for their preparation. The Italian Taekwondo Federation follows an Iranian athlete, Adi, interviewed in this video by Ilario Piagnerelli.

“If I win, I want to dedicate the medal to the Iranian people,” adds the Olympian.

The initiative to bring a team of refugee athletes, without national flags, was born from the collaboration between the IOC and the UNHCR: this year there will be 36 athletes in total, who fled 11 countries.
