The Pentathlon starts in Syracuse, next stop in Paris

The national modern pentathlon team takes on the challenge in Olympia. And this from Syracuse where the Azzurri began the approach stages of Paris 2024. Thirteen pentathletes as well as the technical staff gathered at the DAS, the Aeronautical Detachment. for the first meeting in 2024.

We have everything we need – explains director Andrea Valentini -: a hangar with nine fixed fencing platforms, a shooting range with 12 fixed shooting stations installed in the old canteen and a gymnasium. For swimming and running we have very functional external structures. The gathering should have focused on sporting events, but the decision of many foreign national teams and top international athletes to come and train with Italy enriches everyone. Fencing training becomes a real competition simulation, at the same level as a World Cup tournament. In addition, the presence of an equestrian center nearby also allows us to train in horse riding, so it is a meeting of the five disciplines of modern pentathlon.
