The 2024 match of the hearts, between national politicians and singers, took place yesterday evening in L'Aquila in a surprisingly festive atmosphere. All the parliamentarians followed the instructions of the President of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana and the technical commissioner Ignazio La Russa. What made the most news was the opposition that saw on the field almost all the main leaders: the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein (who has practiced sport for years), the leader of the IV, Matteo Renzi, Angelo Bonelli of the Greens and that of the Five Star Movement Giuseppe Conte (for the majority Giancarlo Giorgetti also stood out on the field). For once, the three really worked as a team and the result – as far as the penalty shootout is concerned – was for the whole team. The most symbolic scene, which some PD MPs who received the image apparently did not want to believe, was the one where Renzi and Schlein even kissed, thanks to an assist from the former secretary who led the “owner” to score. “It was nice to play with other MPs in the National Singers for the Heart Match. The target? Raise funds with 45585 to help children's hospitals. An evening in the name of solidarity, all together. This is the magic power of the ball.” The funds raised through telephone donations and thanks to the 6,000 people present in the stands will be allocated to the pediatric ward of the San Salvatore hospital in L'Aquila and to the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome.
