Palermo, the urban guerrilla for the fires of San Giuseppe: bottles, eggs and furniture against the police – Video

Yesterday, March 18, scenes of urban guerrilla warfare were observed in Ballarò, in the historic market of Palermo: young people set fire to a San Giuseppe fire in Piazza San Saverio. When the police arrived, bottles, eggs and furniture were thrown. As another pile of wood caught fire in Via Tiro, a sign near the abandoned structure. Flames several meters high rose from the fire site and a blanket of white smoke engulfed the entire area. Bottle throwing also took place in Kalsa, in the Oreto area, in Sperone, in the civic hospital area and in Sant'Erasmo. In some cases, children and adults gathered in the “fire” zone managed to set fire to the mountain of wood accumulated for days.

Valter Mazzetti, Secretary General of the State Police FSP, reports that three police officers were injured: “They were literally pelted with glass bottles, stones and various objects. The report once again records several injuries among law enforcement officers. We are concerned by this growing, increasingly hostile and violent attitude towards law enforcement. We reaffirm to institutions the need for greater protection and greater respect.”
