Luca Nardi defeated Novak Djokovic in three sets at Indian Wells with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The 20-year-old from Pesaro surpassed the world number one in an ATP 1000 tournament and thanks to this result he will enter the hundred best tennis players in the world. In the next round he will face American Tommy Paul, number 13. Nardi entered the tournament as a lucky loser and played the match of his life. After the ace on match point, he dropped his racket and covered his face with his hands. “I'm speechless. I have Novak's picture in my room,” Nardi said after the meeting ended. Djokovic is my legend. Until tonight, no one knew me. Fisherman? He pushed me a lot in training, I didn't expect to win.” Djokovic announced that he would play in Miami: “I really wanted to play. I really wanted to come (this year) and I really enjoys being in Indian Wells and Miami. At 36, he says he tries to be more selective: “Of course, it's not a good feeling to leave a tournament very early, especially here. I didn't have Haven't played here in five years.
